ARE WE HEADED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION?

Education plays an important role in our lives. We tend to learn a lot of things, develop skills, helps in making decisions. But the scenario of today's education system has totally changed. It is getting worse. There are many points which proves that we need to revolutionize the system. Of course it will take at least 20 years to see the changes.
20 years back people used to do white collar jobs. It was absolutely fine because our country had opened to globalization which required the service sector. It was reasonable but still today it hasn't changed a bit. People are still preferring white collar jobs. I don't have a problem with this. But I would like to list a few things which might help you to understand the scenario.
A) If more and more people will prefer to go in service sector then who will be there to create employment?
B) Second most important point to notice; gradually the salaries are and will be decreasing in the coming years due to competition. Therefore there will be no point in doing service.
C) It's not just about competition, but if you will notice in every field whether it is in telecom sector, oil and gas, IT, automobile only 3-4 companies control their respective fields. So, it is necessary to diversify and this can only happen only if more startups are established.

My point is, it can be possible only if we invest right from the beginning. And the way our education system is heading I don't think it is teaching us to create anything .

1)We need to bring the foreign universities to come and setup campuses in India.
2) Right from the beginning we have to make the students aware the different options available to them. So that later they don't have the problem in deciding.
3) The most important thing: The top institutes should start putting limitations in the entrance examinations they conduct. This is because if we see today, nearly 10 lakh students appear for JEE  and available seats are only 10,000. That too, if you are in general category the chances are only 50% as there are also reservations. The second alternative is that these institutions need to increase the number of seats: 10,000 is very less that is only 1% of the students who appear get admissions.
4) The case is worse if you see in the medical field there are only 1000 seats available in all the branches of AIIMS in India. And if you do through a private college it is as obvious, no one will ask you.
5)If everyone becomes doctor, engineer,CA then who will bring a change in corporate world? You must have heard the toxic culture in the corporate world.
6)Education should not only be about scoring grades but should focus on teaching moral values.Students must also be taught in-depth about the morals of life and inculcated with humanistic values.
7)The evaluation system should be changed. We rank students on the basis of marks. This pressurizes the students and often they under-perform. It should focus more on participation of students, sports, communication skills,co-curricular activities, etc.
8)Many schools often tell that they "support" the students in doing sports. I bet they just say it for the sake of their image. Schools and colleges are still not comfortable in allowing students in taking up sports. This has to change.
9)The education period in India is till 21 years. That too it is only if you are a fresh graduate. If you want to pursue post graduation it takes another 2-3 years. That means your 20% career goes in studying. What is the point in studying for so long if there is no guarantee that you will get a job?

We know the system is fucked up and will take a lot of time to change. That's why in my first blog I emphasized in focusing in your early 20's. You still have time. Don't waste it. Otherwise you are gonna suffer because today the competition has increased tremendously. In this competition you have to survive and create something unique. We only think of settling everytime. This mindset has to change. Definitely, can work for some people but in the coming years it won't be able to survive for a longer period. We need to take risks and start something whether it is a startup or a small food shop. We have to get out of our comfort zone in doing "white collar" jobs. Our country is only outsourcing things, we need to start focusing on manufacturing.
Why is it that in the times of covid only China was progressing? We only talk we will do this and that. everyone does the planning but execution is important. Banning the apps will not solve even 1% of the problem. All the plastic that you see around you, electronic gadgets, fibers, etc. all manufactures in China. Manufacturing is so cheap in China that all the companies prefer to manufacture there. India nearly imports 50% of the products and exports only 10% which is not a good sign.It is the perfect time to start focusing on manufacturing rather in the service sector. This will only happen if we consider and take necessary changes even at a small level.
